Wishman came to directing from working in low-budget distribution, and her films were always carefully made with the sell in mind, with pack-em-in titles like My Brother's Wife, A Taste of Flesh, and Behind the Nudist Curtain. Often she would come up with the title, create a poster for the film to sell it, and then shoot it with the advance money.
What sets her apart from her hackneyed peers are her wildly inventive "gimmicks" -- bizarre plot devices and outrageous hooks that basically dare you to buy a ticket. In Deadly Weapons, Chesty Morgan plays a secret agent who smothers her enemies with her enormous breasts. Indecent Desires features an innocent woman made a sex slave through voodoo doll magic. In The Amazing Transplant, an impotent man has the penis of a madman grafted onto his body -- making him a maniacal sex-crazed killer.
Incredibly, the indefatigable Wishman is still making films today. In her 70s, she's currently editing her latest film, tentatively titled Dildo Heaven. And she has no plans to retire. She has declared that "when I die, I will make films in Hell!"
